One of the things we enjoy most about our etsy shop "Chest of Reverie", is the variety and the heterogeneity of creations. This is due to the fact that our shop is the result of the energies of two person, who draw inspiration from different things, despite the fact that we both have a common base.
Many Thanks to begforbag who featured our treasury and two of our pendants on his blog!
You should check out his beautiful bags! One of my favorites here: The iPear Messenger Bag !!
If I could chose a fantasy place to live, that would be Hobbiton! (yeah, even if I had to have those huge, hairy toes and feet!). Tiny houses surrounded by the cutest, little gardens, green countryside, simple, relaxed life.
I found this piece of oak wood, fallen on the ground and I immediately pictured this tiny village built on it. I started working on it as soon as I got home. It can take 3-4 days to complete a work like that, as it has several stages. I managed to finish and photograph it on friday.
I was very happy to see that it was featured in a beautiful treasury made by WrenWillow . Thank you!

And another great one, created by marinatea84. Thank you!
We were thinking about what the description for our new creation - a marble pendant- would be, when suddenly we came up with a story of an alien kid who was playing with his marble. As we wrote the story we felt that the pendant developed an identity , a certain character of its own.
We were very happy to see that the pendant made it to a treasury, as soon as we listed it!
Eugenics is "the study of, or belief in, the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics)."
The word eugenicsderives from the Greek word eu (good or well) and the suffix -genēs (born), and was coined by Sir Francis Galton in 1883, who defined it as "the study of all agencies under human control which can improve or impair the racial quality of future generations".

Yesterday we watched a highly underrated film in my opinion: Gattaca. The film presents a sterilized version of the future, where people are born only after exhausting gene tests that would guarantee that the new-borns would be brought to this world with the best combination of genes possible. Those few born in the "traditional way" were considered invalids and they stood almost zero chance of becoming successful in personal or professional level.
I've been thinking that a future like that is not so unlikely. We are already capable of creating clones and mutations. The ethical and moral implications of such an extreme form of racism and elitism would be disastrous: just remember what nazis did in the name of the aryan dream.
This is a treasury I made today inspired by this issue:
*Note: This bottle has been sold. We cannot make this anymore, since poppies are out of season here, but we do take orders for when they will be available again*
It was late april and we were talking a stroll around the countryside, very close to the house, opening ourselves to the inspiration. There were lots of daisies and fewer poppies all over the fields. Red red poppies, so delicate, you couldn't even touch them without harming them. We thought it would be nice to make an item inspired by the beautiful, hypnotic flower. Lots of stories and lore about poppies. Their extract, opium was known from ancient times as a narcotic, medicine and even poison and was used by priests, shamans, healers, witches and in modern times it was eventually used as recreational drug.
We found a withered poppy, only the seed capsule and the stamens left. An idea of adding those stamens in a mini bottle popped up.
We poured glycerine inside the bottle and we added the freshly cut stamens. At first it looked all transparent, the stamens still black and well-formed. We took a few photos of the bottle and listed it. It's name: A Path Through Remembrance. As the days passed, we noticed that the color of the liquid gradually changed: It started taking a purple tone and we loved it! Actually this is one of our most cherished creations. It surprised us in a good way, as it became even more "mystical" than we expected it to be.
As for the name, the inspiration came from an artist we really like, Atrium Carceri (yes, it's spelled wrong in the title of the video). The genre is Dark Ambient:
